About me
Hi! My name is Gio Kim and I am the founder of MicroMacro. I created this website as a passion project; I wanted a way to improve my research paper literacy while also help my peers too. I have a strong passion for microbiology, specifically in P. aeruginosa and quorum sensing, but I just love the entire field overall.Â
I love writing, programming, philosophy, and biology. I like teaching, tutoring kids most of the time 1:1 in my local library. I strongly believe that my beliefs should turn into actions, with one of my favorite extracurriculars being Model United Nations, making public advocacy a passion of mine. Moreover, helping others learn about my interest and helping them find theirs makes me happy.
I spend my time building things a lot, mostly all computational. Whether its building an algorithm to help me finish my homework faster or creating CNNs, I love the entire engineering process. On the science side, I enjoy the field of bacteria sociology; I find quorum sensing extremely interesting. I have a hobby of reading research papers that I find interesting; my favorite one is "Bacterial Quorum Sensing and Metabolic Incentives to Cooperate " by Dr. Dandekar at Dandekar Lab UW. Reading this research paper was probably the main reason I got interested in pathogens, especially ones that are known as "superbugs", and its implication on human health.
Overall, I love diving into complex ideas, solving hard problems, sharing what I learn, and advocating. Thank you for visiting and I hope my posts inspire you to explore something new today.
